Hi all,
My wife and I both turn 65 this August.
Due to a forced retirement from my workplace, effective June 1, and because my wife has no HC coverage of her own, we will both apply for Medicare, including a supplement, this summer.
Our 2022 MAGI is within the SSA's 1.4x surcharge bracket ($206-255K MFJ).
My projected 2024 MAGI will be well below the initial IRMAA threshold.
Today's dumb question: Following our Medicare enrollments, do I need to wait until after SSA has notified me of its IRMAA determination before I can file an IRMAA appeal based on the June 1 life-changing event?
Thanks for any advice!
