I will be going on Medicare July 1 — A, B, Medigap and drug plan.
I’m ready for some maintenance items, like seeing a dermatologist, colonoscopy, cardiologist.
My understanding is to be covered by Medicare I need a “referral” to the specialist from my primary care doc.
Our family has a long standing and good relationship with our primary care doc and her team. She would agree that all of these things need to be done. For Medicare purposes is it me asking her to make a formal “referral” to a specialist, And does that mean, she actually enters in order and contact the specialist, or what exactly is needed from a Medicare perspective So I am covered by Medicare when I make those visits (Subjective course to deductibles, co-pays, etc.). Thank you.
