Hey everyone,
I hope this is not a dumb question. But I finally got around to transitioning my ROTH IRA from the old mutual fund platform to the new brokerage platform. The only fund I have in it is VTSAX and It shows it transferred my shares at the current market price of $127.64. The way it reads almost makes it sound like all my shares were repurchased at $127.64. However, I have had this account for 10+ years and most of my shares were purchased in the $60 a share range. Obviously back then I was able to purchase a lot at a lower price so now I am freaking out that they somehow repurchased them at the $127.64 price.
Am I just reading this incorrectly? Is this normal when you transitioned your account for it to show the # of shares at the current price? Is there a way to check to make sure the correct shares transferred over? I obviously want the shares I purchased a the lower price points.
Please assist as I know very little about this, I just set it and forget it.
