My HVAC system is 2 years old. A couple of days ago it started whistling. I have return air vent in the ceiling that requires a 20x20x1 filter. I googled and it seems that a common reason is restricted airflow due to dirty filter. Incidentally, I recently put in a new filter. So I thought the filter is defective. I put in a new one yesterday and the whistle is gone. Great. But it is back today. So I did some additional testing. Once I remove the filter, the whistling sound is gone. Also I feel that the suction is good. Once I put the filter back (either one), the sound is back.
Any idea on how to remedy this situation? Thanks.
