I have paper I Bonds in my name, with at the bottom "OR" and my wife's name.
1 If I die, would she need to re-title the bonds in her name, or could she, at least in theory, convert them to digital form and redeem them online whenever she needs to?
2 I think she had a TD account, but they closed it due to inactivity. Is it possible and necessary for me to add her as a co-owner on my Treasury Direct account?
3) If so, would there be a way for her to access the account without having access to my e-mail (for the 2 factor authentication), or would this be impractical due to what seem to be long (6 months?) waiting periods for conversion?
4) If not, could she (after my passing) open her own TD account, and transfer the bonds to that account?
5) If none of these solutions works...any suggestions?
Thanks!
J
