I have a question about what name to use for my Trust when setting it as a primary or contingent beneficiary for my retirement accounts such as a 401k and IRA's. I apologize if the answer is obvious, but this is my first time doing this.
My certification of trust page says the title to assets should be in the following name (real names removed for anonymity):
(1) "John Doe and Jane Doe, Trustees of the Doe Family Trust dated January 1, 1111"
So for example, if I want to set my 401k account beneficiary as my trust name what do I need to use?
Do I put the full name shown above in (1) or do I put "Doe Family Trust dated January 1, 1111" ?
I am pretty sure it should be "Doe Family Trust dated January 1, 1111", but I want to get some confirmation from Bogleheads before I do it.
I assume the full name shown in (1) above is only when I need to title or re-title an account such as a taxable brokerage under the trust.
thank you!
