I can’t figure out what my asset allocation (AA) should be.
This is supposed to be one of the most important decisions an investor can make.
I understand need should set the min % equities. Ability should set the max % equities. And willingness dials you within this range of min-max. But how does one even define the range?
I’ve taken numerous surveys that the brokerages set up to guide it. They put me anywhere from 50/50 to 90/10, which is too big a range to be of any help. But more importantly, the questions don’t seem very relevant to my situation. So garbage in=garbage out.
Is there a set of quantifiable metrics that one can use for evaluating need, ability, and willingness?
Tacos in advance!
