Hi,
I have a Citi Costco card with executive membership ($120/year). Though I moved out of US (not a USC/GC) we are retaining the Costco membership as we prefer to keep the Citi card active (plans to come back to US in 10 yrs or so and want to maintain credit history and more importantly the card is super useful while visiting other countries given its favourable FX rates - we travel a fair bit)
Decided to downgrade to Gold membership and called up Costco team for refund of $60. The agent facilitated the refund but asked for full CC details - Card #, primary card holder name, CVV, expiry as well as billing address (US based mailing address)
Given I was on an international call and it was a pain to find a # wherein I could talk to a live agent via their IVR options, I gave card expiry date and CVV details. Were these details necessary? I'm worried of running up fraud transactions in future.
I had shared with the agent that I was calling from outside US and to speed up the process. Costco membership is in my name with spouse being the secondary card holder while for Citi Costco Credit card my spouse is the primary card holder and I'm an add-on. Not sure if these facts made them ask for additional details to ensure that a genuine person is calling them?
Thanks
