Questions:
1. For mine and my wife's 401k options, not all the funds include tickers. Is this common and is there a reason why? How do I compare these funds against funds against funds outside our 401k without this information?
2. My current target for our bond allocation is 12%. My target retirement age is 62 at which point both kids will be out of school and the mortgage will be paid off. The 2045 target date fund is 85/15 and the 2050 is 90/10. I chose a bond allocation in between. Does this logic make sense or should I consider a different strategy based on my age and current net worth. I understand it is a personal decision based on need, ability, and willingness to accept risk.
3. I have 529 accounts set up for both our children (8 and 10 years old). The balance combined is 100k. I did not include these figures in the review because I keep these separate from my retirement portfolio. Should I include the 529 in the analysis?
4. We have an emergency fund (38k) in Vanguard Money Market (VMFXX). We have a fairly sizeable taxable account (approx 335k not including the Emergency Fund). Do I need a separate emergency fund or can I invest the emergency fund and if I need money in emergency, sell stock and rebalance in our 401k (s)?
5. When I set up my wife's roth, I inadvertently selected FSPSX which is only developed market. Should I switch this to FTIHX (0.060% ER) which includes Emerging Market?
6. Am I doing ok using the Fidelity Zero funds in my roth IRA? I chose them because of the zero ER and fairly close tracking to the total market but I understand some sectors of the total market are not represented.
7. Thoughts on international allocation?
7. How am I doing? Any general suggestions?
