Hi, I have this situation. A few months ago I started receiving daily unsolicited calls regarding a rental I have. It started a few months back after I had the rental on the market for a few days.
The pattern is as follows: on a daily basis, I get a call on my cell from a local number. The number is always different and there is always a different caller, but they all have foreign accents, and they always follow the same script asking me about "my property". I have my cell on the national "do not call" list, I have always told them not to call me, I have reported the caller numbers on the FCC site.
Nothing works, they call daily like clockwork. Sometimes I see the caller reported as "Spam likely" and do not answer, but suspect the same scenario. They never leave a voice message. Lately I gave up on being polite and I just ask them to stop calling with objectionable language.
I am curious if others have experienced anything similar. What would be their motivation? Why do they keep wasting their time calling when I am clearly not interested? Would this be some sort of a scam? Or just some desperate real estate investors hoping for a deal?
A few years back I used to receive clearly scam calls about "IRS arrest warrants". I tried to reason with them and explain I knew it was a scam but they kept calling. It only stopped when I started to waste their time and keep them on the call making fun of them for extended periods of time when I had the time. Wonder if I should try this instead.
Curious what others did if they encountered similar situations.
