I was out in the garage fixing something and my wife came out and showed me a video she watched on SS withdrawal strategy. Guy was touting why you should take SS @ age 62. I listened to it and then explained to her that we were planning on taking it at 70. The reason is that she has no SS earnings and I am 4 years older than her. So it would behoove us, in our specific case, to wait until I am 70 to begin withdrawing to maximize her survivor benefits.
Am I missing something important? We don't need SS, so delaying is not a hardship to wait. We are both retired, me age 58, her 54.
