Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Residential Energy Credit IRS Audit

So I installed solar panels on my home in 2022 and claimed the Residential Energy Credit (form 5695) on my Tax return (I do my own taxes with Turbotax). I'm pretty sure I have all the documentation to prove legitimacy. Today I got a letter from the IRS saying they want receipts etc. to prove I was eligible for the tax credit I claimed. Headache in that it will take some time to gather and format a response but it seems pretty straight forward.

Question. Should I just respond or is this something where I should hire a tax consultant to proceed? Like could this easily become a legal battle?

I just want to make sure that I don't create more work for myself if I leave some technicality out or somehow don't address their concerns completely. Their letter states to basically send everything related to the work done. But should I contact the solar company and get a letter from them? Should I provide building permits, electrical output of the panels, etc. etc. Their letter is not that specific.

I plan to be quite comprehensive but wonder if anyone else has been through this specifically and if I'm making too much of it? ... or not enough of it..

Thanks
