I have BND in my Vanguard IRA account and the Fidelity Intermediate Bond Fund in my 401(k) account. The former has an expense ratio of 0.03% and the latter 0.17%. I feel like I should not pay the 0.17% fees when a fund with 0.03% expense ratio is available.
How should I go about making this change? Are there any things I should pay attention to?
The most straightforward way would be to sell the Intermediate bond fund in the Fidelity 401(k) account and purchase the S&P500 Index Fund (where the rest of my money is). Then, sell an equivalent amount of VTI from the Vanguard IRA and purchase BND there.
I know our philosophy is not to time the market, but it seems right now, I will be buying the S&P500 Index at it's peak.
Should I not do it to save on the fees? Or take the plunge?
