Hello all, Im under 25, I just got a job and I need to pick health insurance for the first time. Also, my parents cannot afford to put me on their plan right now.
I understand this is super personal and dependent, but I cannot envision future scenarios in my mind as I have never taken care of this stuff of my own. This is an extreme amount of new information for me to process. I also understand it's weird to post all these here and ask. I am trying to study them myself - I downloaded each of the plans, but I'm seriously struggling trying to take it all in. I don't have family that can advise me and I would greatly appreciate your support. Whatever insight you can offer is better than none.
I have read these forums quite often, I understand that HDHP + HSA is the way to go for investment reasons ~ but I will be in NYC, alone, and budgeting every dollar on my salary, so I'm quite nervous. Right now I have 0 prescriptions or medications Im taking and I visit the doctor rarely. This year, I only ~expect~ to visit for: an emergency visit (flu/etc.) and I'm interested in a dermatologist to review moles.
The plans they offer me are (None of which require referrals):
A2: POS, Deductible: $0, OOPMax: $5000, Co-insurance: 0%, Pcp Co-pay: $30, Monthly Premium: $92.55, HSA: NO, Out-of-Network Coverage: YES
F1: POS, Deductible: $750, OOPMax: $3000, Co-insurance: 10%, Pcp Co-pay: $25, Monthly Premium: $86.33, HSA: NO, Out-of-Network Coverage: YES
A3: EPO, Deductible: $0, OOPMax: $5000, Co-insurance: 0%, Pcp Co-pay: $30, Monthly Premium: $79.56, HSA: NO, Out-of-Network Coverage: NO
F3: POS, Deductible: $1000, OOPMax: $4500, Co-insurance: 20%, Pcp Co-pay: $25, Monthly Premium: $75.48, HSA: NO, Out-of-Network Coverage: YES
C3: POS+HDHP, Deductible: $3250, OOPMax: $6500, Co-insurance: 0%, Pcp Co-pay: $30 after ded., Monthly Premium: $59.67, HSA: YES, Out-of-Network Coverage: YES
B5: EPO+HDHP, Deductible: $2500, OOPMax: $3500, Co-insurance: 0%, Pcp Co-pay: $30 after ded., Monthly Premium: $59.07, HSA: YES, Out-of-Network Coverage: NO
I would sincerely appreciate any form of advice, personal experience, or insight. Thank you.
