I am looking for advice to what to get. My 10 year old is learning to play piano. Her interest is medium so I don't want to get a piano into my house. She takes piano once a week at home. I don't push her to practice, I just want her interest to guide where this goes.
Just happen that years ago, we found a working Roland Midi A33 Controller that someone was getting rid of. We had plug into our Mac and play via Garage Band and it works nicely except Recently there are 2 instances where I start up the laptop and all of a sudden Garage Band didn't have any sound coming out. I do have a a pretty old MacBook Air (2015) so I think it's software issue that seems to work after I reinstall and reboot the laptop. Still it was very stressful and I don't know if the problem is the software of the MIDI player. I do have another Mac that is newer but want to understand if Garage Band is pretty reliable when it's run on a newer computer?
Alternatively I can buy her a keyboard so that I don't need to worry about a laptop
1) Buy her a new digital Keyboard that does not rely on a computer. I am thinking Yamaha 143 new @$500
2) Buy used Yamaha NP 15 at $280 from a friend (but my concern is longevity since there is no warranty and I don't know how long keyboard generally last)
I know nothing about music instruments so Appreciate any input.
