In the past two years I've received five notifications (via US Mail) about notices of a data breach. This is mostly related to various healthcare entities that have some of my information such as insurance and medical providers. These notices offer free credit monitoring and identity protection services; usually for a year or two years. I've signed up for these services and now have five different entities monitoring my credit.
Free is free, but now I'm not sure if this creates unnecessary duplication of effort or unnecessary redundancy or still other exposure.
Are there potential downsides to signing up for many different (free) credit monitoring services ? This may likely have been discussed in another thread - and if so, if anyone has a link to that thread, I would appreciate it.
