I've done some credit card churning to get the rewards/cash on some cards and want to now close them. I have a few questions. I have the following cards with year opened. I've been a loyal Bofa customer since high school(hence longest standing CC). I only really use the Bofa Alaska card now to get EQM for MVP status. Although I know its pry not the best rewards card. All CC's are roughly 15-20k limits. I don't need this much credit and all are paid in full or have no balances.
Chase Sapphire Preferred2023
Wells Fargo 2023
Fidelity Rewards 2020
Bofa Alaska 2018
Discover 2018
Bofa Cash Rewards 2017
Chase Southwest 2014
Capitol One Platinum2012
Bofa Platinum 2005
1. I was thinking about closing my southwest card and Sapphire preferred(to later apply again and get the rewards). The southwest card is one of my longer standing cards so wondering if I should just keep it. I used to fly southwest more than alaska but since they have removed a lot of nonstop flights to the places I visit. So I really haven't used this card in years.
2. Others I would close is Wells Fargo/Fidelity/Discover/Bofa Cash/Capital One. Wondering if people view closing one more than others. Or just keeping the older CC's open. (Pre 2014)
3. I possibly plan to buy a house in 8-10months. So maybe I should just leave everything as is?
4. It seems if I closed the most recent 3 my average age of accounts would actually go up?
5. Any other things I am missing to earn easy money/rewards? I am currently doing the capital one savings bonus.
