Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Taking Social Security - My realization

Hello,

I’m 64 and haven’t taken my Social Security yet.
I have passive income from rental properties, so I’m comfortable.
My plan was to wait and decide whether to take it 67 or 70.

With the recent passing of my mother I’m rethinking things.
Blessed with relatively good health, she was very mobile and active until her mid 80s.
Like others I’ve known, she slow down considerably after 85. Going out became a bigger chore so she stayed home more and spent considerably less money.

Regardless of what’s the best “financial” decision, I’m thinking maybe
it’s best to take your money earlier when you’re still active and can travel and the energy.
I don’t have children.

Any thought or experiences?
