Background:
I own only Vanguard mutual funds and I transitioned from Vanguard mutual fund accounts to Vanguard brokerage accounts earlier this year after pressure from Vanguard to do so. I am still learning some of the mechanics (and yes, I miss having my trades settle on the same day they were entered!)
Transaction:
I entered a trade to take my RMD from my tIRA on a Friday (before 4PM), specifying some withholding and having the remainder going to my taxable settlement account. The markets were open on Monday, but the trade did not settle until Tuesday evening (T+2).
Questions:
Is this expected? What happened to T+1? My Vanguard rep did not have a ready answer but is supposed to get back to me. Have others seen this?
