I'm 54 and thinking about retirement in the not too distant future.
Currently have assets of about $1.2 million in stock index funds. It's 40/60 in taxable and in 401K/IRA.
I know I should move about 25-30% of that to a bond index fund.
Knowing about the Rule of 55, I have been thinking (dreaming) more and more about retirement. My job/personal life is stressful and I feel burned out and have no time for fun activities. At the same time, rather conversely, I am a bit worried about going cold turkey with no job to fill my days. There may be a middle path where I can reduce my work week--which would be ideal! Not sure my employer would go for it, but I may be willing to bring it up in the next year or two.
Thanks!

- Is it better to set up the bond index fund with taxable funds or inside of my 401K?

- At what age or stage do people usually start to transition from 100% stocks to a 60/40 stocks/bonds?

Thanks!
