Hi I made the decision to stop working* and my last day is 2 weeks from now - mid-December. We have been very fortunate and I want to spend the next part of my life doing some pay it forward work. We have a very solid nest egg (I'm 60, DW is 55) that will fund our retirement comfortably and ten some, and with both kids gainfully employed and generally a modest lifestsyle (Bay Area costs notwithstanding). DW does not work anymore.
But i would appreciate advice on what to do before my last day at work.
My Q"s
1. What are critical items to do before my last day?
2. What Q's should i be asking my employer?
3. I'm planning to elect COBRA - should I not do that? I will be covered for health care through EOY i tihnk since my last day is mid-month. So need to plan post January 2025
4. Any other advice?
* not calling it retirement as i have some ideas/plans but at least for the next year not going to plunge into anything full time.
Many thanks in advance!
