Hey all,
I am nervous yet excited about this new travel job that I am getting. I will be traveling a lot for my job, like 3-4 days out of the week. Not every single week but maybe 2 weeks a month I will be sleeping in hotels. Likely getting rental cars aswell, and air fair. I dont know how common air fair is, maybe a few times a month but the hotels will be 3 to 4 days a week maybe 2 weeks out of the month. My question is, is there any sort of card I should get for rewards points to take advantage of this? I believe my hotel stays and car rentals will be expensed but I have to buy them myself to start with, and then get paid back. I assume my Chase Freedom Unlimited card wouldn't be smart with this, so might grab a new card or something. I looked into the chase sapphire preferred which I am leaning towards because it gives good points back. The reserve is even better but thats a $500 fee. You might ask me what I plan to do with these points and my answer is really I'm not sure. I just want to take advantage of being able to buy and get expensed back. I guess get cash back, or use the points to travel myself, but I assume if I travel a lot for work as it is, the last thing I will want to do is travel in my leisure time.
Just wanted to know if any of you have any thoughts on this matter. I was also told by my parents that it isnt a good idea to have a lot of credit cards because that hits your credit score negatively. I currently have a Chase Freedom Unlimited card, and just a standard family Discover card that I have always had. Credit score is like 799.
