Personal Consumer Issues • Traveling to Vietnam/Cambodia - How’s the access to quality healthcare?

Hello fellow BH Travelers.

We are 66/76 with chronic but stable health conditions. We are in our gogo travel phase, one of the places on our bucket list is Vietnam/Cambodia to see the Temples in Siem Reap/Angkor Wat.

There are two Viking itineraries of interest one Ocean and one River. The ocean ship has an onboard medical facility that the River ship does not.
The River itinerary includes the stops to Siem Reap/Angkor Wat whereas the ocean itinerary has them as a pre/post extension of the cruise.

While we know that the ship’s medical facilities are likely limited, there is some peace of mind knowing a doctor is onboard. My understanding is on the River Itinerary, one would need to disembark the ship to access medical at the various ports. Unclear how much coordination is provided or needed in that case.

We have traveled throughout Europe and feel comfortable with access to quality care in that part of the world. However, I don’t have much knowledge about the Vietnam/Cambodia area. We do purchase separate travel insurance, have used it in the past, so are familiar with that process.

Any BH have knowledge or experience safely traveling this part of the world?
