I recently signed up for an HSA through my employer for the first time. Health Equity will be managing the HSA. Without me asking, they sent my wife and I HealthEquity Visa Debit cards in the mail. I am not sure I will want to use these but wanted to ask your opinion before I made a decision. Is it helpful to use these Visa debit cards for doctor office visits, or medical bills as a way to streamline getting reimbursed? My original plan was to submit a reimbursement online for medical bills and use my normal Fidelity rewards credit card for any bills so I could earn the cash back.
If I decide not the use the debit cards, if I don't activate the card is that essentially the same as cancelling the card? Or, do I need to call Health Equity and have them close the debit cards?
Thank you.
