We have contracted for a housing purchase with the inspection report revealing excessive Radon readings. The U.S. average in homes is 1.3, mitigation is recommended when above 2.0, the inspection average was 6.3. Excessive readings are not uncommon in Nashville. Mitigation essentially involves installing a PVC pipe that runs from the crawl space through the house, exiting through the roof with a fan attached that pulls the radon upward. The results are successful in up to 99% of the cases. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.

What are the experiences, along with any suggestions of readers? Any responses will be appreciated.
