I am 59 year old small business owner looking into the need for a financial advisor as I plan to retire this year. At this point I have done my own investing with some tax input from my accountant. Brief overview: $30 million in liquid assets ( stocks/bonds), primary house valued at $1.4 million, office building valued at $500,000. Only debt is remaing $300,000 mortgage on primary house at 1.8%. Cars ( Hondas and Chevrolets) paid off. 4 children with college expenses covered with 529 plans.
I have felt comfortable managing my finances in the past, but now thinking about the need for professional management/advice. As the saying goes, I do not want to save a dime and loose a dollar with financial moves in the future but how do you go about finding an advisor worth their fees? I do not want some salesman putting me in some cookie cutter mutual fund. Looking for solid investment strategies, tax advise, risks evaluations, generational wealth,...aren't we all! I do not have any personal connections with people that have a financial advisor. How do you go about finding a financial advisor?
