I am a card holder of a less popular credit card (withholding name). I keep it active every month or two with a small charge and often times a higher charge. I liked the card because it has a specific category I use to maximize points. Over two years, I have built up points worth a $50 statement credit reward.
During the holidays I planned to use the points to select a $50 statement credit. Logged into my account, but the points were at zero. Had plenty thousands of points the month prior.
The agreement posted online currently is dated February 2024. It states that I have 36 months to use the rewards points from accrual or they expire. I have paper notice from 2022 with the same information. The very oldest points on my account were accrued about 22 months ago. There is a detailed accounting of my accrual over the two years in my Point History. The balance dropped to zero without explanation in late November to mid-December. Card is still open with the same account number and has been actively used.
Last month, I contacted the customer rep number. Only possible explanation was maybe it is a system error. There have been no change in their terms. No one used the points and they weren't transferred, as those subtractions would be immediately documented on the history. Account in good standing; no violation of terms. I decided to wait a few weeks to see if their system would update. 2025, no change.
I called again on Friday to speak to a supervising manager. Nothing different. I asked if their office could contact the Rewards office on my behalf or have them call me. Was told they don't facilitate that or get involved in that. The manager said there is no other number I can call.
Closing the card forfeits all unused points, so I am holding off on that.
How to proceed to attempt to get my points back? Thank you.
