I received a 1099-K from Paypal for $76.95 with my address on it. However, instead of my name, it says "Fidelity National Information Services" as the Payee and shows the last four digits of a TIN that I don't recognize. It says "Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions." I never received any payments from Paypal.
According to Google AI,"You're likely receiving a tax document from PayPal addressed to "Fidelity National Information Services" at your address because PayPal is required by the IRS to report your payment activity through their platform on a Form 1099-K, and "Fidelity National Information Services" is simply the legal name of the company that operates as PayPal, meaning the document is still intended for you at that address; it's just using their official corporate name for legal reasons," though I couldn't find the actual website this was pulled from.
My actual Paypal account doesn't show anything with regards to sales and there is no tax form on my account either. I'm hesitant to contact Paypal and get my name associated with this. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should do something with it or is the info so far off that it will never be associated with me (other than the address)? Thanks
