I'm dealing with an aging parent with cognitive decline who lives in assisted living facility a couple hundred miles away away (but in same state). It's become a problem for him to even receive mail like statements, etc. (get's lost, causes confusion, piles up and creates clutter...). So I've been working to first reduce and ultimately eliminate most mail of this sort. Have POA, handle finances, tax returns, etc... Most accounts are set to paper-less online or e-delivery and have changed them to my address for good measure. With a few key accounts I'm able to list both addresses (1 as residence and 1 as mailing).
But what about tax returns with the IRS? I can update it to my address this year as I'm working thru this years return. Would that be a problem changing his return this year to my address? (Though actually the IRS doesn't typically mail anything out)
Thanks
