My wife got a check in her name, I was going to put it in our joint BofA but at the last second decided to deposit it to ML. I saw the check in my activity for 2 days in a pending status, and all of a sudden its gone. It doesn't show as pending, nor does it show up as rejected* I called ML and they said to get in touch with the issuer. I still have an email from ML showing the deposit confirmation number, which the rep basically said was worthless.. The issuer is a health provider and I haven't gotten a response from them.
So now this money is in limbo and I don't want to try to deposit it again for fear of being accused of trying to double dip a check.
What should I do? Keep escalating with the provider to see if they can re-issue a check? I don't mind waiting but the next steps seem aren't super clear for me. WWYD?

I forgot her name wasn't on it (I signed paperwork to add my wife to the ML account weeks ago, and that's still in process now).
