Apparently there are very small used trucks called Kei trucks which are legal to drive if over 25 years old, in Washington state. They are Japanese imports with motorcycle-like engines. Would such a vehicle be suitable for a retiree just for local shopping? Are these things reasonably easy to maintain? I wonder if I could replace my sub-compact 2013 Kia Rio which I bought new 10 years ago. I have uncovered outdoor parking at my condo. I wonder if a Kei truck or some other small vehicle might be more practical. I may have to give up driving at night because so many big SUVs around here have headlights at blinding heights.
Are there any other kind of practical vehicles I could use to go to local markets? I suppose an electric tricycle with a basket would be good enough, but I would be afraid of it getting stolen if I parked it outside a store.
