I am about 8 years into my investing journey. When I first, started, I follow the portfolio line up of a podcast host I listen to because it was an easy way to just get started. For the first 6 years, I had the time commitment/interest to maintain my asset allocations across multiple accounts.
50% us total stock, 10% small cap value, 25% international, 10% REIT and 5% gold.
But since I started a family, switch jobs and listen to bogglehead podcast, I find myself really considering simplifying and increasing my risk profile by going 100% us total stock.
I am pondering how to go about doing this and have come up with two methods that sounds reasonable to me and wanted some feedback.
1. Direct all future investment to us stock market. For the rest, I would sell at the end of a future bull market run for small cap and international, and after interest drops in 3-5 year for REIT.
2. Sell everything and just buy us stock market in one shot.
The main reason I am considering option one, is because the underlying investment are pretty good choice and some degree of sunk cost fallacy. But most of the etf I use are normally use by boggleheads in general and I also now understand the round trip for some of this investment to pay off can be 10-30 years.
