Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Help me understand how I should make my mortgage payment (to new servicer that purchased mortgage)

The original holder of the loan sent out a letter on 12 July 2024, informing me that the note has been sold to a new bank (NewRez). This letter didn't get to me until 22 July 2024, and I have proof of this (USPS informed delivery). By the time I read the letter, it was no longer possible to make payments to the original holder. My next payment is due on 1 August 2024 (for which I set-up autopay with the original holder).

I would like some clarifications on the following series of events.

-Original holder of the loan told me I had 60-day grace period. However, I'm not sure if the grace period applies to only payment sent to old loan holder and not forwarded to new loan holder, or if this is a carte-blanche grace period. The FTC website on this wasn't very clear and appeared to imply only the former...
-I have not been able to set-up an account with NewRez. I used the supposed account number at NewRez provided by the old loan holder, but got nowhere.
-Earlier today (July 25th), I received an email from NewRez. While NewRez's email did not provide me with my full account #, it did inform me of the last four digits of my loan account, which differs from the last four digits (at NewRez) provided by the original loan holder.

From the above, it seems like there was a mess-up of some sort. The email from NewRez was sent after its office closed, so the earliest I could speak to someone is tomorrow morning. I should also mention that I tried calling NewRez on the 22nd but was put on a long hold.

Questions as follows:
-could someone clarify whether I must make a payment by August 1st? I would very much like to, but I'm currently unable to do anything about the account. I'm also not sure if I could get the external accounts properly set up by August 1st.
-I have not yet received a paper-letter from NewRez, and I do not know the full account number associated with my mortgage at NewRez. How do I go about obtaining this?

Many thanks in advance!
