Hello, I need advise on if I should enroll for HSA HDHP health plan at my new job. I was enrolled in HDHP at my old job and I had met the high deductible due to medical expenses related to me and my pregnant wife. I am expecting to incur more medical expenses as the pregnancy is due at end of the year. Wife is signing up for physical therapy as well. Hence, I am leaning towards enrolling in the PPO plan for the rest of year.
HSA limit Type: family
Old job HSA details:
1. HSA contributions: $4150
2. HDHP deductible met: $3500
New job HDHP details:
1. Deductible: $3500 (aggregate)
2. OOP max: $7000
3. Employer contributions: $750 (July - Dec)
4. Premium: $75
New job PPO details:
1. Deductible: $800 (embedded $400)
2. OOP max: $6000
3. Premium: $96
If I stick with the HDHP at my new job, I'm concerned that the challenge of meeting the high deductible in the new plan will completely offset the benefit of tax-free contributions for the rest of 2024. Thoughts?
Thank you.
