Personal Investments • planning for Alzheimer's

Hi--I am 70 and my husband is 82. They think he has early Alzheimer's and I am trying to plan how to pay for his care. I have enough money but I don't know how to go about getting information regarding the best way to use it to pay for care. I have considered signing up with a CFP (who is also a CPA) but she requires that I turn over all assets and I would be giving her institution something like $22,000 per year! About half of what we own is comprised of VERY OLD STOCKS AND FUNDS (held for 37 years!). When we die, everything we own is going for restoration of the planet. I hate to spend $22,000 per year when I have never done anything like that before! That money could have gone to us or to the charities. My plan is to keep all the old funds/stocks (terrible to figure out the cost basis and there are also capital gains if sold) and let them pass to charities after our deaths with no capital gains taxes paid out. I need to look for someone to help with or perhaps even manage the rest (right now it's all in money markets!). I don't have a lot of time (a lot on my plate) and I think I should look for an organization or institution to help direct me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
