Non-US Investing • Seeking portfolio advice: UK to US move-resistant

Hi all -

Again posting on behalf of a friend, hence the “she” pronouns rather than “I”. We’re trying to create a move-resistant portfolio between the US and UK.

Country of residence: UK. Might move to US in a few years.

International lifestyle: She regularly has to move for work. She lives in the UK for now, but will probably have to move to the US in a few years. She’s a UK citizen and US NRA.

Age: 30-40

Desired asset allocation and home country bias: Not sure

General investment account, taxable:
  • VXF: 100k GBP
  • VTV: 130k GBP
  • VXUS: 250k GBP
  • VUG: 135k GBP
  • VMFXX: 3k GBP
These were bought when she lived in the US a few years ago, and we recently transferred them into Interactive Brokers when she moved to the UK. She can’t buy any more shares now because of PRIIPs.

So now our question is what to buy given she can’t buy any ETFs because of PRIIPs and PFICs. We’re planning on doing an even split of 5% in each of these 20 stocks. She’ll invest about 3.5k GBP into the portfolio per month (i.e., $175 per stock each month). Does this plan look good? Any watchouts?

Proposed new investments:
Even split of 5% of each of these tickers.
  • Microsoft (MSFT)
  • NVIDIA (NVDA)
  • Google (GOOG)
  • Salesforce (CRM)
  • KLA (KLAC)
  • UnitedHealth (UNH)
  • Merck (MRK)
  • Pfizer (PFE)
  • Disney (DIS)
  • Target (TGT)
  • General Motors (GM)
  • Caterpillar (CAT)
  • Honeywell (HON)
  • Emerson Electric (EMR)
  • Fidelity National Information Services (FI)
  • Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-B)
  • Bank of America (BAC)
  • Goldman Sachs (GS)
  • Eli Lilly (ELY)
  • MetLife (MET)
Thanks in advance for any input :)
