My wife and I have separate Vanguard brokerage accounts to which we automatically contribute each week. I was thinking of opening a joint brokerage account for both of us, transferring our money from our individual accounts to this joint account, and then closing our individual accounts. Is this worth the effort? I like the idea of watching our weekly contributions compound together, rather than separately, but I wonder if there are any downsides to this idea. Thoughts?
