I am a US citizen residing in India for last several years and file taxes in the US, and in India (as Resident Ordinarily Resident).
I am 64 yrs old and had I been living in the US, I would have seriously considered taking Social Security early i.e. now, even
though I do not need the income. But since I live in India and file taxes as a Resident (on my worldwide income), I have elected
to defer for now as I might return to the US in the future.
Someone mentioned recently that US SS income is exempt from India taxes. Is this true? Looking for confirmation.
Thanks.
