Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Confusing bill for a minor surgery

I get that if you have surgery, many people are responsible for your care. This results in multiple EOBs. I am confused on the EOB's from the hospital. The first one is for $1500 which I presume is for the surgery:

But then five months later we get another EOB from the hospital saying amount billed is 63k, plan paid 16k, we owe 2.7k. My issue is the line items in this bill make no sense. Many charges are repeated , particularly two large ones for 16.8k each. To make things more complicated the actual bill from the hospital has totally different line items than the EOB ( but the amount due is the same ). How to tell if I was double charged or if some error was made ? Feel kind of dumb just to pay it blindly when it makes no sense:
