Hi Bogleheads,

I'm helping my 78 year old mother with her portfolio. She's retired and has a pension that pays about 80%-90% of her monthly bills, as far as I can tell. I'm still working on dialing in that number by working with her on analyzing her typical spending.

The portfolio is about $750,000, with about $120k of that being taxable and the rest in an IRA.

She's at Fidelity and would like to remain there. I want to keep things simple and easily explainable and easily understandable. The one fund approach appeals to me here, even though I'm a three-funder for my own portfolio. I think roughly 40% equities is a good place for her to be with her pension and risk tolerance.

I am considering two options and would value feedback. The contenders are:For me it's coming down to: do I want to have her in a dynamic allocation that will grow more conservative as she ages, or do we want to pick a good allocation now and then deliberately change it if conditions warrant.

Thanks for any thoughts!
