Hello, I want to poll this group especially folks who live and/or know Florida well.
I want to shortlist locales in/around Fort Lauderdale area for a retirement condo. We have friends close by & love the area. Also, closer to Europe with more family/friends.
The idea is to move here from CA in a few short years, once work is past us. I consider the tax benefits a side benefit, not the primary reason for us to move.
What we are looking for (long list):
1. Min 2 bed, 2 bath. 3 bed, 2 bath ideal.
2. In a location where I don’t need a car. For example, we were in Westwood, CA near UCLA and absolutely loved having shops and groceries literally steps away from us.
3. Close enough to the Ocean or bay ideally. E.g. 20-30 min walk away.
4. I’m 50/50 on whether to buy or rent. Thats ok. Will figure that out once I know the area I like.
So, please folks. Help me get to a max of 3-5 neighborhoods to then look at in more detail.
