Hi,
The builder is not giving clear information about the closing date for my unit. For other units, they say a date, but are not sticking to it. So even if they give a date, it is not trustworthy enough based on what they did for other units.
Builder is not giving any grace period once they set the closing date that works for them. A daily fine of $500 is charged if we dont close by the date they ask us to do it.
I am expecting based off my own estimates that, builder may say the closing date to be somewhere around Nov 15 to Jan 15. A Huge 60 day window.
Current rental is $3500 per month.
State: New Jersey. Official winter start date is around Dec 15.
I have already given notice for the current rental based of a mid date, i.e. the End date as Dec 15, with the thinking of taking vacation(will all the stuff put in a storage) from Dec 15 through Dec 30 if needed as it is holidays for kids school.
If the builder didn't close even by Dec 30, then continue to stay in a Hotel in home city till the Builder does closing.
Am I troubling myself and my family too much for saving a month of rent. Should I just pay rent till Jan 15th(99% chances of closing by then) and then go the route of hotel only if needed post Jan 15.
If I choose to pay till Jan 15, Builder does closing by Nov 15, I will lose 2 months of rent, i.e. $7000
I have already made up my mind for a potential loss of up to $3500 i.e. End date of Dec 15 for rental if Builder close by Nov 15.
What is the best course of action?
Thank you for your time for reading this post.
