Non-US Investing • UK State pension and retirement planning

Continuing to help my relative with retirement planning. One question the UK public pension, which plays the same role as Social Security in the US. Based on several threads, it appears that you can take state pension at 67, but the amount is only about 221 pounds per week regardless of your income and is index to inflation?
