Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Medigap G Plan and Part D Price increases.

My wife has been on Medicare with a Medigap plan g and Cigna Part D plans. The price increases are starting to get scary.
I won't be eligible until late next year. We are both retired and live in Illinois. She is starting to research possible changes during open enrollment.

My understanding is in Illinois she can change Medigap plans without underwriting around her birthday but has to stay with the same provider(Aetna) and a plan than is same coverage or less. Is this accurate? If so we are stuck with Aetna. Do they have multiple plan G's at Aetna? We will definitely be sticking with a G plan...have heard N and even High Deductible G plans could be an alternative but I don't think they would be a good fit for her.

Part D shopping is a little more straightforward. Go to Medicare.gov and input your scripts to comparison shop...correct?!

Here is a history of the price increases since 2022. Let this be a cautionary tale for those first entering Medicare. I hear there is a discount(7%?) if I get my Medigap policy thru Aetna also come next year....but not sure it is worth it.

Aetna Medigap G
2022 - 118.87
2023 - 126.03
2024 - 146.52

Cigna Part D
2022 - unsure
2023 - 26.40
2024 - 42.30

Any Medicare Wizzes care to opine?! All advice and info is much appreciated!!
