Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Friendly advice without pay and liability

I am curious what liability there is by looking at a friend’s financial situation and giving advice. I have many friends who I’ve pointed toward this website and the Get Started page and several of them have asked for me to review over their financial situation in depth and talk to them about recommended asset allocation and things like safe withdrawal rate, etc.

Thus far I have simply told them to create an account and post a new thread about it. I think there are trust issues by listening to a bunch of random people online versus a trusted friend as I am not aware of any of them doing this.

I would love to help but I also don’t want to open myself up to liability.

What say you dear Boglehead family?
