First off, I understand my situation is unique and I’m blessed beyond words. I don’t take it for granted and try to regularly give back to my community. With that said, I’m concerned my portfolio may have grown beyond where a 3-fund portfolio makes sense. I’m curious to hear how you would invest in my situation. In summary, this is what I have:
1. $39 million in investable assets that are currently in a 60/40 3-fund portfolio.
2. $10 million of commercial real estate generating about $650k/year
3. A large, successful business generating about $9 million/year before taxes
I live a relatively modest lifestyle spending less than $22k/month and live in the same 3200 sq foot house I bought in 1997. I’ve already addressed gifting to my grown children, so estate needs are handled. In other words, my needs are modest.
So given all that, how would you invest my investable assets: stick with the 3-fund portfolio, hire an advisor, or something else?
