I am around 50 and have an opportunity to go part time which may not come again. This opportunity would enable 2-3 day workweeks. I would keep all benefits including medical. This would potentially enable me to work for more years than If I stayed full time.
The portfolio is 21x current expenses (anticipated to go down once kids launched). I will continue to max out 401k with match. I have social security and a 20k/yr pension coming in 60s. My income at part time would cover 55% of expenses and my partners (unstable) income would cover the rest. In the event my partners income disappeared, I would withdraw 2% yearly from portfolio to cover the shortfall. Does anyone have any issues with this?
