I need advice on a mechanic's lien notice I received in Minnesota.
I hired an HVAC contractor to install an AC unit, which was completed on 7/31, and I paid them in full (receipt available). On 11/8, I received a certified lien notice from a supplier who delivered the AC unit parts to my contractor, claiming unpaid bills. I never contracted with this supplier directly and have never heard of this company, yet they placed a lien on my property.
The contractor and supplier are pointing fingers at each-other on how to settle up for the cost of the AC unit, and I’m unsure about my legal rights or next steps. Should I file a complaint or take other action? Seems like I should not be caught in the middle or suffer the consequences of a lien when I have fully met my obligations to the contractor for the work completed.
