Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Unusual fraud on Amex Gold

I received an email today from Amex, telling me that "As part of our regular security monitoring, we've determined that your Card number may be at risk. To protect against fraud, we've issued a replacement Card...."

I've detected nothing wrong with charges on my account. In more than 40 years with credit cards, this is the first time the credit card company is indentifying a problem. I've had fraud that required replacing a card, but in every case it was because I noticed a fraudulent charge and notified the company.

I'm wondering if this is something specific to my card or Amex has had a major breach and is replacing a large number of cards. Anyone else get this notification today?
