Personal Finance (Not Investing) • When signing for Medigap, does one give Social Security # and Medicare #?

My friend got a Medigap plan she might be interested in off medicare.gov with Mutual of Omaha. She said guy had her on phone over an hour, took her Social Security, Medicare # and credit card number. Now, I don't know if this was a bad actor or not. I've been trying to give her info on SHIP, getting info on plans, etc., but she 's a recent widow, and not sure if this is legit or a scam. She's kind of getting very emotional, doesn't want to do this stuff so I guess signed up with first person she called (she says the agent or she ended call after a while cause she started crying). I told her to call Mutual of Omaha to see if that phone number and name of agent is legit (I think he may have e-mailed her something, too). I'll await her answer -- I guess there's a chance someone could have a bum phone number on Medicare site. Yikes! I don't want to add to her worries so tell me if it's out of the ordinary for him to ask for this. I sense he was in a selling mood to sign her up -- if indeed he was a legit agent.
